Mayor, City of Circle Pines, Minnesota

Campaign Sign

I was successfully re-elected on November 5th , 2019. This time around I was unopposed.

Here's a little history on my past campaigns:

First elected in November of 2005, I was sworn in on January 10th, 2006.  I have attached my comments on that evening below.

Facing re-election in 2007, I was unopposed for Mayor. To see a newspaper review of my 2007 candidacy click here or on the link below.

On November 3rd, 2009 I faced an opponent and received 81% of the vote and was successful in seeking another 'vote of confidence' from the residents of Circle Pines, Minnesota. Needless to say, I am very appreciative. And the extension of the Centennial School District levy passed that same day, which is tremendous news for our community!  Click here to see a 2009 interview with North Metro Television.

I was re-elected as Mayor of Circle Pines on November 8th, 2011. To see a video interview about the 2011 campaign,  click here.

I was re-elected to another two-year term as Mayor on November 5th, 2013 election. Thank you again to the residents of Circle Pines for your support.

I was re-elected as Mayor again in 2015, winning with 65% of the vote over my opponent, Council member Rich Runbeck who had 32%. You can read about my victory here.

In 2017 I was re-elected with no opposition. Good news was that a couple of citizens that I campaigned with won the two open City Council seats.  Congratulations to Dean Goldberg and Jennifer Rauner!

In 2019 I was re-elected with no opposition. I also had the opportunity to run with a newcomer to the City Council - Steve McChesney.  (replacing my colleague Mike Schwiegert who retired). Steve, myself and incumbent Matt Percy were all elected.

Alexandra House

I was honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Alexandra House, a provider of domestic violence and sexual violence services in Anoka County. I have retired from the Board but continue to be a strong supporter of the organization, and I hope you will be too!
